In front of environmental challenges such as global warming, pollution, urban sprawl or deforestation, which increasingly jeopardise the life of living beings on our planet, the need to raise awareness of climatic issues has now become urgent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Environmental education<\/strong> makes for responsible citizens <\/strong>and is key to progress towards a sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, the idea that human health cannot be safeguarded without protecting our planet\u2019s biodiversity is still far from being taken seriously, and too often the protection of nature is considered as a secondary objective compared to socioeconomic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As human effects on our environment progress, more community-based effort is needed. In such context, the GEA \u2013 Growing into Eco-conscious Adults<\/a><\/strong> project intends to encourage people to bring about real change in behaviour and actions, starting from their daily lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Started in November 2022 and funded by the Erasmus+<\/strong> programme, GEA will design and implement a set of innovative and high-quality educational resources<\/strong> addressed to both adult educators and adult learners \u2013 especially with disadvantaged socio-economic\/educational background \u2013 ultimately aimed at raising environmental awareness among adults who are out of formal education, while conveying the importance of social and digital inclusion in the field of adult education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Environmental education and awareness-raising for adults can empower informed decision-making, play an essential role in increasing adaptation capacities of communities, and empower women and men to adopt sustainable lifestyles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the following months, GEA partners<\/strong> from 7 different countries \u2013 Italy, Belgium, Estonia, Greece, Germany, Macedonia, Lithuania \u2013 will conduct research<\/strong> on citizen science, environmental challenges and actions, including online surveys and interviews with adults and adult educators. The research results will be collated in an interactive report, laying the basis for a tailored training programme and Sustainability Kit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Would you like to contribute to the research or to discover more about the project?
